Private Ezekiel Boyd Chestnut

 

 

Ezekiel Boyd Chestnut was born on 20 March 1892 at Carnan (Carnanreagh), Bushmills, County Antrim, the fifth of seven children of farmer James Chestnut and his wife Margaret Jane (née Alexander). By the time of the 1911 Census he was living at Carnan with his parents and five of his siblings and working on the family farm.

Chestnut enlisted in the North Irish Horse during the war (date and regimental number unknown). He trained at the regimental reserve camp at Antrim until discharged or demobilised.

On 25 January 1922 he married Emily Alexander. He died at Ballymoney on 22 March 1957.
